I had a most interesting experience in recent days. A customer needed a few specific things and we had a very nice exchange. I learned a little about his personal story and got to hear an amazing voice. As he prepared to leave, he paused and offered encouraging words.
"Things will get better soon," he said.
And then, like the flip of a switch, he grew quite animated.
"Just don't believe a thing you hear on mainstream media," he said with arms motioning, "it's all lies."
We were wearing masks so he could only see my eyes which must have widened.
"Trump is the savior of this country!" His voice grew in intensity, "I don't care what anyone says about him."
My eyes must have grown wider but I didn't say a word.
And he grew more animated, pointing at me.
"You're a SOCIALIST!" He accused. Then he pushed the door open and pointed again. "You're a SOCIALIST!"
I turned to my sister whom I was happy was nearby. "What did I say?"
Her eyes were wide too. "Nothing."
And so it is with today's world. Pleasant situations can turn on a dime. And I guess there's a new savior. And I'm an anti-savior. Even if I don't say a word.
Linda I will share a few thoughts with you. There has been an underlining current of anger out there for many years. People are fed up with other countries buying up our lands, walking into our country uninvited and others dumping their good here while our people are losing out. The gun issue happens EVERY election, "The Democrats are going to take away your guns" The Democrats want to kill babies. So here come Trump with his language like a third grader and taps into these kinds of things."We will build a wall and stop those Mexicans from coming into the USA. No one will take away our guns. So now all gun group follow him. We're not going to kill babies on my watch. And so now Religious groups follow him. So with all these groups supporting him, he gets away with murder so to speak. He gives the wealthy $$$$$ and they are behind him. Without saying it he lets his Republican friends in Congress know they are finished if they don't do his bidding. So they are behind him. Are all these people really being responsible for the welfare of our country? Some may say so but the people out there that can see through all the lies and want to do the right thing know better. Most of his followers are basically good people. Trump says what they want to hear or whats best for their wallets not what best for our country. I for one have tried and I stress tried to not respond to many of these people that are friends because I can't reach them. One of my friends is a long time retired college professor and he is a trump supporter. My opinion is it's because Trump has put lots of money in his pocket but he would never say that.He has divided this country like I have never seen before. So how will things settle down? If Trump is voted out his followers will act out for a long time to come but at least the country will be back heading in the right direction. In the meantime let people voice what they want even though we know better.
